GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK “PIRCH”
Thursday, 11 March 2010

I know that many of our Members and supporters will be saddened by the news that our long serving General Manager Andrew Pirchan is moving on after more than 8 years with the Box Hill Hawks; his final day will be on Friday 12th March.

Andrew has accepted an exciting new career challenge with Etihad Stadium Management as Manager - Business Development.

As General Manager, Andrew has overseen an important phase in the Club’s history and development.  When he joined us in late-2001 the alignment between the Box Hill Hawks and Hawthorn was less than 2 years old and still in it’s development phase.  Now the partnership is a mature one of over a decade standing.  Andrew’s leadership has played a huge part in the growth and strengthening of the alignment.

The ever increasing professionalism of the VFL competition has, of course, come at a cost.  Today the Box Hill Hawks turns over 80% more than it did in 2001 when it last won the Premiership.  Andrew has helped the Club meet this challenge by significantly it’s growing sponsorship and fundraising income streams.  His success is evidenced by the fact that the Club has returned a profit result for 6 of the past 7 years.

Andrew leaves the Club in excellent shape on and off the field and his place as one of the Club’s very significant administrators is assured.  He is Box Hill’s second longest serving Secretary – General Manager and he most deservedly received Life Membership of the Club in 2009.

He has made many friends at the Box Hill Hawks over the years who I am sure will join me in thanking him for his friendship and a “job very well done”.

On behalf of all at the Club; l wish Andrew, Karen and their young family health, happiness and success for the future.
