Box Hill’s Development Team in the VFL Reserves competition had a year to remember.

Defensive/midfielder Leigh Kitchin also won the Fred Hill Memorial Medal as the player judged best a field in the 2009 VFL Reserves Grand Final.

Swiftly moving through the season, the side easily accounted for most opposition on their way to success, with a thirteen game winning streak still alive after their Grand Final victory.

Dale Bower the mastermind behind the side’s success brought the Hawks to their 2nd consecutive final, this time reversing the result on its 2008 loss to Williamstown.

A deserving winner of the 2009 premiership as the leader of the competition throughout the season, the Hawks were destined for greatness right from the beginning and will go down as one of the VFL Reserves competitions most dominant teams ever to hit the field in a season.
