Round 18: at Box Hill City Oval (16th August 2009)

The Box Hill Development Team put a dismal Bendigo Bombers side to the sword, waltzing to a 24.22.166 to 6.3.39 victory at Box Hill City Oval.
In surely the side’s most dominant performance this year, the Hawks signalled their premiership intentions with a 126 point demolition.
Quick out of the blocks, an eight goal first term by the Hawks opened a gap Bendigo could not recover.
With an extra thirty seven scoring shots, Box Hill could not be stopped with the story continued in the Hawks dominance in the total disposal count (446-199) and inside fifty count (71-23).
Struggling to trouble the scorers, Bendigo Bombers could only manage six goals for the match while the Hawks kicked twenty-four and had eleven individual goal scorers.
Glen Parker and Gary Conyers booted 4 goals each in outstanding performances up forward.
Matt Cunningham defensively led the way with 32 disposals, David Marcius through the centre (35) and Lachlan George (39).
Andrew McGuinness continued his good form with (26, 2 goals), likewise Jack Bull (26, 2 goals) and Ben Smithwick (21, 2 goals) who coming down from the seniors showed his class around the ground.
Chris Hoegel and Michael Dell Aquilla with 3 goals a piece also helped out the Hawks cause.
Working for one another, the strong bond of the Hawks displayed week by week is unrivalled and the work-ethic of the side continuing to fight on even when a country mile in-front.
Box Hill brings up their tenth consecutive win and a well deserved break in Round 19 after so far a fine season, with still so much to look forward to.
Boosting Box Hill’s percentage, the win keeps the Hawks in top spot a game ahead of Williamstown with a healthy percentage of 174.15.
Following the Bye, Box Hill next takes on Casey Scorpions at Box Hill City Oval in Round 20.
