Epworth Eastern

Epworth Eastern, a major acute campus within the Epworth Healthcare Group, has been open since June 2005.

The facility has 223 beds with a principle focus on Cardiac, Vascular, Orthopaedics, Oncology, Urology, Endocscopy and General Surgery.

Epworth Eastern has state of the art equipment, digital operating suites, a computerised medication administration system and best of all private rooms with caring medical staff.

In the short time since opening in 2005 Epworth Eastern has performed over 20,000 procedures. We pride ourselves on Excellence, Everywhere, Everyday and recognize that this could not be possible without the care provided by our 375 staff.

Life Education Australia

Life Education (LE) aims to empower young people to make safe and informed decisions about drugs and their health. Facilitated by specialist educators who use innovative and interactive teaching strategies, LE develops young people’s life skills, knowledge and confidence. Reaching approximately 200,000 children and 18,000 families each year through family and school-based programs, LE is the largest independent, not-for-profit drug education organisation in Australia.

Reach Out For Kids

ROK’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for children, young people, and families in the local community. The organisation provides strength based support in the form of expert advice or information and counseling. A group service is also offered that promotes enhancing the well being of children. These programs include Feeling Cool; a support group for primary school children in grades one to three and Tuesday Club; a support group for primary school children in grades four to six.

Several youth groups are also run by the organization. Triple C, Study Hard: Get a Life, Going Places and PUMP are the services available to teenage youths. In enhancing the quality of life for families ROK also operates a Post Natal Depression Support Group, Parenting Information and Support, Financial Counselling and Whitehorse Counselling (a referral and information line).

Community Chest

The Whitehorse Community Chest has been supporting the less fortunate citizens in the Whitehorse area for over forty five years. The donations that it receives from the local community are dispersed to over seventy different charities and community organizations associated with the City of Whitehorse and citizens – e.g. St. Vincent de Paul, the Red Cross, the Child & Family Care Network and the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre.

In 2006 the Whitehorse community donated over $140,000 to the Chest. This year Cr. John Koutris, the Mayor of the City of Whitehorse committed to be the Patron of the Whitehorse Community Chest. He is encouraging all those people who live in, or work in the Whitehorse area to embrace the values of the Chest and support the valuable voluntary work that is done by so many in the community. 

The main annual fundraiser has been the Whitehorse Door Knock Appeal which will occur this year throughout the month of June. Please welcome the volunteers would knock on your door to make a tax deductible donation, or you can volunteer to be a collector.
